I have a pressed metal bathtub with a few rust spots on
the bottom. Can refinishing stop further rusting? Is
refinishing a worth while approach? (v.s. tearing out tub)?
Would appreciate any information.

Bathtub refinishing may not offer a long-term solution from the standpoint of durability or the rust. Newcote, our Forum Moderator, is a proponent of a special coating system available at www.sanantoniosurface.com and www.newcote.com where you can review the product and the FAQs. Compare the cost of investment to replace the tub versus the cost of recoating and how many years you expect the coating to last as well as how many years you plan to remain in the home.
