I am painting over old oil based paint. Can I prime with a super latex primer or do I need to use an oil based primer. I want to switch from using oil paint to latex on the final coat.

There are waterborne primer that claim to adhere to glossy surfaces, for just this type of application, such as Zinsser's 123, I have yet to get up the nerve to try it, maybe I will on my house somewhere before doing at a clients. I always use an oil base primer over oil based paints to re-coat with latex.
Whatever choice you make be sure to clean and lightly sand the existing paint prior to priming.
