I am trying to remove and replace my shower surround. I can't seem to figure out how to get the moen faucet off. It's one of the single handle, pull straight out and turn types. There are two screws on the metal disk that surrounds the handle, but how to get the plastic handle off?
Also, I think I should probably shut off the tub water supply...but I can't find that either.

Any help would be appreciated.
Feeling dumb,
m

Most tubs don't have an independent shutoff, but if all you are removing is the handle and trim shouldn't need water off. Turn off water at main shutoff if necessary.

To get the handle off you will have to remove the plastic trim piece in the center of the knob that covers the screw holding it on. Use a small screwdriver or knife blade to pry it off. Should be a phillips screw under it. Remove screw and knob should pull off.
