I have a large covered patio in the back of my home and would like to get the exact instructions for faux finishing my cement patio so that it looks like I tiled it. I know that you have to seal it with something and I think I can handle the painting technique but I would really like all the particular steps for a successful job.

Hi, That is a good idea. I think I will put this on the list for a future project. Anyway, your question got me thinking about how to stain cement. So I did a google.com search and found this site

It was very informative. Let me know how your faux finish turns out.

Keep in mind that concrete is pourous. Has the concrete been sealed? If not, staining that concrete would be like painting with water colors... be careful of your designs... so that you don't have then blend and mix together. Oil based paints and stains will penetrate the concrete and last longer than latex. Latex paints will "float" on the surface. Good luck!
