I read in a home plumbing guide that you should apply plumbers putty to the base of the toilet before seating to the floor. Is this advisable? Should I caulk afterwards instead or do nothing? Also, which is better....wax ring or the new waxless seals? Finally, plastic or metal on the choosing of closet flanges? Thanks for your advice on these questions!

Wax is the only way I do it and recommended, plastic closet flange, and caluking makes it look good.
