We plan to lay a FLOATING wood floor within the next few weeks.

We managed to scrape up the glued foam pad from the sub-floor and smoothed the glue ridges. We have found some areas in the plywood that are low (knotholes, nailholes, seams, etc.)

Do we need to apply leveler (or is there something else to use)? Does it go over the entire surface or only the low spots? Are there different formulas for different types of subfloors?

Nail holes are to be ignored, knot holes that are really large may need filling, but most likely not, seams between sheets of underlay probably are not a problem. But if you have depressions or dips that cause something on the order of more than 1/8" in 8' You may need an SLC and that is mixed with water and must cure before putting down your floor.
