Our Wood A-Frame house has had ome sever settlement and the one of the problems is our front windows started leaking. So after I removed the sheetrock (which had mold on the underside) I really like the look of the wood and want to do the whole front wall in wood instead of replacing the sheetrock.
My questions are:
What type of wood should I use?
Do I need a vapor barrier?
Should I caulk in-between the spaces of the header?
The vertical joist has several cracks in it do I need to replace it?
There are several black areas that look like dry rot. How can I tell for sure?
I have sent an attachment of the current condition.
Looking forward to hearing form you.
