We have a wood A-Frame house and several large windows in the front. due to sever settlement the windows started to leak.
After pulling the sheetrock off (which had mold in several places) and exposing the wood I decided I really like the look of the wood. There are a few black areas that might be dry rot. So can I tell for sure and can it just be cut out instead of replacing the whole panel? How sould I go about this? Is there a prefered wood paneling that I should use. Do I need a vapor barrier between the existing wood and new wood? What about the spaces between the existing wood? Should that be caulked or left for ventilation? How can I tell if I need to replace the insulation due to water intrusion? Also the main vertical joist is cracked in several places.
I am sending an attachment of the current condition. I hope it can be received.
Sincerely
Lori
