I have pulled up old wall to wall carpeting and have had the floors sanded. Apparently, the floors have deep stains as a result of rug shampooing.
What can I do short of sanding the floors to nothing to remove the stains?
Has anyone else seen this before?

Stains such as mildew and pet urine that have penetrated deeply into the wood and can't be removed usually require replacement of the affected boards. Boards are pulled from inconspicuous areas such as in closets or under sofas to replace the affected boards. Newer boards are put back in the areas that were robbed. This usually requires the skilled hands of a professional.
