I just put in a new oven and we thought we smelled gas, only when we used the oven. I called the gas company to be sure and we did have a small leak where the gas line connected at the wall. He put some liquid teflon on the connectors. He then cut off the gas and went outside on the meter and said if the meter moved at all, that would mean that we had a gas leak somewhere in the house. Everything checked out and he left. Tonight, my wife turned on the oven and we thought we smelled gas. I turned it off, waited a few minutes and turned it on again. Now I don't think I smell anything!?!? Does a new oven smell stronger when you first use it??

In the manual it says the first few times you use the oven, there will be a strong smell from the seal. I think that is what we were smelling.
