We have a G.E. electric heating unit. The heat will not come on . When I turn on fan, the fan comes on but, no haet, auto the fan will not come on. This is an old model , when we bought this house it had to be repaired, three of the 5 heat coils were not working. They were replaced and have not had a problem. Outside unit is 1 year old. Is this unit worth repairing or is replaceing it better, due to age.

If it's old and you have the cash to replace it, do so. With that many heat coils, sounds as though you are straight electric.. Check into heat pumps, and save some bucks over the next few winters.
