I received a few emails asking if it was possible to paint ceramic tile. The answer is yes. With the right prepartion and the correct coatings you can expect at least 20 years out of reglazed tile and a savings of about 70 percent versus the cost of replacement. If anyone else requires instructions I will copy them from my web site and post them here for everyones review.

How durable is the coating on ceramic floor tile in high traffic areas?

As far as durability in High Traffic floors all I can say is we have done Entry ways into homes, hotel, and hotel entry ways where they have been driving on the surface for years after application.

I would be interested in knowing how to paint ceramic tile. Have to strip old wax off of 30 year old tile and owner doesn't want it sealed, but wants to paint it. I don't do this kind of thing, normally, and thought she was nuts to paint it. It is brown, and in a kind of fleur de lis pattern with gray grout. Thank you!

Iraeya,
This thread you are responding to hasn't been around for more than six years. Look at the dates. You're diggin' up bones!
Painting ceramic floor tiles has never proven to be a good idea, doesn't matter what that person says.:wall:

It's a joke! There is NO such thing as "re-glazing of tile, tubs or anything else. Glazing requires the item be fired in a kiln at high temps for a period of time. What these "hacks" are selling is a paint job. It's a temporary fix.

Hi Connie,
Thanks, I'm here almost daily but often a good answer has already been given or I wait to give others a chance.
Old threads show up because people use the search feature above to find answers and so bring them back. Sometimes I think by someone trying to promote their line of business?;)
