What would anyone recommend for drywall thickness on the ceiling and or on walls? Should i use a thinner drywall for the ceiling? Is weight a concern?

Depends on your joist span. If it's 16 inch OC, then go with 1/2 inch. Anything moew may need you to install 5/8 inch. If you are going to do this yourself, rent a drywall lift.

Sorry about that. The previous answer was just for the ceiling. For the walls, go with 1/2 inch
