What are the best ways to get this stuff off my floors? I know they have machines... is there some sort of compound I can buy with a putty knife?

Hi
Depending on the size of the area...a little elbow grease goes a long way. You can buy a little 4 inch razor scraper that does a great job on concrete...if it's wood that's another story.....;)

Hi
If you're going to put ceramic tile on this floor, then maybe you don't have to worry about getting it perfectly clean...are you planning on putting down a cement backerboard before you tile?

I removed 28 year old linoleum tiles from a wood floor by just popping them up with the flat edge of a screwdriver and putty knife, some came off in rather large sections! The adhesive was so old that it had almost disappeared. Where they had laid vinyl over it in 2 small areas, I just sanded the old adhesive off. I was having new sheet linoleum laid and all the installer had to do was patch the seams and then lay adhesive around the edges. Two installers had already refused to take off the old tiles, so I just did it myself in about an hour and a half for a 12' by 25' area. Good luck!
