I Live in fl. so yesterday was a little warm. My wife turned on the A/C and we noticed it was not getting cool. I went out side and found that the condenser fan was not working. I went on here last night to look for a post about the same thing. There was one that I cant find now..but told the other user to spin his fan blade with a long screw driver and if it started it was _____? I forgot what he said? Can any one help?

Oh yeah...I tried to turn it and the fan did come on after i spun it. Also while it was running I noticed no warm air blowing from the top of the unit. Shouldn't blow air up?
Thanks Mike

sounds as if you are referring to a capacitor, if it is bad, and you spin the fan the wrong way, often it will run backwards

You may have a bad run capacitor on the motor, or a dead spot in the windings, or bad spot in the bearings. Either/or, change the motor and run capacitor. As for the second, sounds as though the compressor has over heated, due to no fan, and gone out on it's internal overload. To reset, remove disconnect and let sit for 24hrs and try it again.
