I am looking to purchase a door for a house that is being built and unable to find a decent selection at the local Lowes or Home Depot.

Are there any web sites that have a large selection of doors to choose from?

Jim,
Lowes and HD usually only buy doors from a couple manufacturers. If you use a good search engine like google.com you will probably find a multitude of mfgs, but buying retail may be a problem. What I suggest you do is visit some of your local independent lumber dealers. You will find that they are very helpful. Many times they will have brochures/catalogs they can special order from. Shop around!
good luck,
fred

Frewalt is right....most manufacturers have a distribution system in place and won't retail to you...can't send a door UPS...

At home depot, go to the millwork desk and ask about other doors. I wanted some oak veneer hollow core flush doors for a house I was building to match the oak trim and jambs I made. Never seen anything but birch and luan in the stores, but they dug out a book, ordered them for me and it worked great. BTW, those oak doors, slab only, were only about $35 ! Since I made the jambs out of 5/4 and ran my own casing, I figured I had less than 50 bucks in a NICE looking door.

Look for other, local building supply stores in your area. They may carry different brands.
