We are removing the bath tub in a basement bathroom and want to replace with an oversized shower. How do we build our own shower pan. We don't want to move the drain from the right edge to the middle because we would have to tear into the concrete floor. Can we use a shower pan liner and build our own without moving the floor drain?

Hi Ski,
The problem is that when you remove the tub you'll find that the drain is actually against the end wall, not where you think it is. It's directly under the overflow pipe.
It's very difficult to build a tile shower floor when the drain is not out in the center area, and I would not recommend doing it.
There are fiberglass shower bases that have the drain plumbed the same as a bathtub. Ask over at the plumbing board on this site.
