Hi,
I own a Magic Chef Gas (town gas)stove/oven.
Its appox 5-6yrs old.Model # 31213XAW
It has the special surface type burners.
I need to try to repair the thermostat,as it feels like someone may have forced it the wrong way!It works,but doesn't shut-off in the correct spot,and turns past it stot,then you have to turn it backwards to get it back to the off position??
I want to open the stove top to work on this,but the instruction book,says not to open this top,but to call in a certified repair person?
I think the fix is simple,and fairly cheap.But I need to get the top open to work on it?Whats the trick?Can you help?Thanks, Charlie

I do not recommend attempting to open the top of this stove unit. There are special cautions that need to be adhered to in order to prevent damages to the heating parts and the stoves top.
Sometimes the knobs simply slip on the stems. Remove the knob and check the knobs stem. It may either have an adjustment device or be defective.
Try contacting Magic Chef online and or by phone.
Visit the local appliance parts retail dealers store for additional information, service advice, special tools and repair proceedures on the appliance.
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes and solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair proceedures and instructions, pictorials and schematics, which may be available online.
