i"ve isolated a squeaking noise in my whirlpool gas dryer to a support roller. The dryer model is LG5706XPWO.I'm getting a kit with both rollers. When I replace the lower one, will I need to support the drum? Should I also replace the shafts at the same time? The kit comes with both rollers, but only 1 metal clip to keep it in place. Any idea how the other roller is kept on the shaft? I can see and just touch the rollers thru the lower front access panel. Will I need to disassemble the washer any further to fix it?

Thanks!

Hello skibum. Welcome to my Gas Appliances forum and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

When you disassemble the dryer and finally access the rollers, one clip is all that is needed. The other roller is secured with a.....??????.....I 4got....haha...:) anyway, it's not a completed task.

How much needs to be removed is basically whatever is in the way to access the rollers. What you do need to do is take hand written notes if need be. the idea is not to second guess the assembly nor forget any step.

Often times the bearing shafts do not need replacement if the bearing isn't too damaged. Supporting the drum isn't needed. Removing it entirely will most likely be necessary.

Check the belt too while your in there too. May as well or suffer later...haha...BTW...make a hand drawing of the belts positions on the pulleys too...you may later be glad you did....:)

If you can manage to complete the entire task successfully in one try and not get cut and draw blood....it's a task well done. If your blood is drawn by a bruise or cut, you cannot jackup the repair fee either....we can...:D

Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes and solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair proceedures and instructions, pictorials and schematics, which may be available online.

You may want to also check my prior belt replacing FYI TOPIC, in this forum. May be some helful info.
