View Full Version : Gas Dryer Heating but not drying

I've got this Inglis gas dryer with the home I've just bought.
It heats up but keeps the humidity inside. Thus the vent is clogged. But not the house vent which I checked and cleaned.
It is the internal exaust of the dryer that doesn't work.
It blows more heat trough the lint filter hole, on top, than trough the vent hole at the bottom.
I'm looking for some advice how to open up this dryer and clean the air ducts.
If anybody can help I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Depending upon how mechanical you are you can attempt to open up the outer case and clean out the accumulated dust and lint. I have a gas Maytag dryer that opend from the front with two screws removed. I then go about disassembling the blower cage and ducting and vacuum it out.Dryers are not complex but if you are afraid of damaging it then perhaps you should call in an appliance tech and have him clean it for you. Be sure to position yourself in a way that will be unobtrusive to the tech (don't hover over him) and watch how he does it then do it yourself once a year. Try to get assembly drayings for your dryer by contacting the mfg via the web.

Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes and solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair proceedures and instructions, pictorials and schematics, which may be available online.

An excellent source for orginal replacement parts is your local retail appliance parts store. Appliance parts dealers test and carry replacement parts for all appliances. Parts dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.

Retail parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers if you stop in at the store. The info will help to determine the exact parts used in the model assembly line run and possible problem causes.
