We have leaking windows and can't find the source of the leaks. They leak when there is alot of wind and rain but don't when there is no wind. The outside has been caulked and I can't think of anywhere else that can be caulked to stop the leaking. Is there any trick to find where these leaks may start? Please help!

Leaks can be hard to find, especially when they only occur when the wind is blowing. Most window leaks occur around the perimeter of the frame, but not all of them.

It may be that the wind is forcing the water around the glass where it is attached to the frame.

It's also possible that the water is actually entering someplace other than the window, but is just showing up there. Do you have a gable or soffit vent above the window(s) where the leak is occuring? It could be the water is coming in through the vent and running down the inside of the wall, finally showing up at the window.

There isn't a soffit directly above the window but there is a drip cap. Maybe that has something to do with the leaks. I have recently read that if the drip cap is level the water can get in through the caulking? I will check that out when it finally stops raining perhaps sometime in August. We have caulked around the glass where it's attached to the frame so hopefully that's not where it is getting in (we've used a lot of caulking!). Thanks for the help.
