The home I purchased, has a solid core front door. The laminate is peeling/splintering off. Is it better to purchase a new door or relaminate the existing door.

Replace the door. In order to relaminate it without increasing the THICKNESS of the door, you would have to get all of the old laminate off, then find a laminate (or skin) the same thickness as the original. If you change the thickness of the door, you'll run into problems with the knob and deadbolt, getting it to seal properly, etc.

I was able to remove 90 % of the laminate. My son 14 months was having fun removing it day to day. If I'm able to remove the skin completely, is there something I can do to save the door until, I can purchase a new one.
