When running the self-cleaning option - the doors didn't unlock after it ran the cycle. How do I unlock the doors? Any suggestions?

Hello,

I always find it is a good idea to reset the oven for a self clean cycle as some locks need power to lock or unlock, then try to unlock the door and turn off the controls...you never know :)

Some common info on some of the self clean locks used today is linked below...

:(.....SELF CLEANING DOOR LOCK STUCK SHUT:

Hello Marart. Welcome to my Gas Appliances forum and our Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

The problem your oven is having is an all to common and occurring problem with the self-cleaning functions.

Possible solutions are listed below.
Use those that apply to the problem your having.

Try removing the electric cord from the wall socket. Leave the oven unplugged for several hours before plugging it back into the electric power. Hopefully by doing this it will release the locking device.

If that fails, once again unplug the appliance, then try using a thin blade knife or scerw driver to release the lock by entering through the latch lever space.

If all else fails, you may have to remove the glass front panel and access the locking device from inside the cabinet.

Before attempting any repairs, first, check ALL the function control settings, on the front panel. Doing this is only to verify that they are set correctly. Try every optional setting possible to see if any condition has been overlooked and possibly causing the problem.

If all the above is determined to be correctly set, most likely the micro switch in the door locking mechanism, which activates the self-clean cycle is stuck, even though the lever is released and the door opens.

What your likely going to need to do is remove a cover plate or panel which covers the locking device, in the ovens door frame {not in the door} and attempt to manually release the locking device and or tiny micro switch.

CAUTION:
Be careful doing this. The appliance must NOT be plugged in to the electrical power source.

If if not possible to determined exactly how to release the mechanical locking device, removing the wires attached to the tiny micro switch may be necessary. If you do remove the wires, be sure to use electrical tape to wrap the wire terminal ends to prevent any possible electrical shorts or electrical groundings.

Should the wires need to be removed and it does solve the problem, you then have two other choices. Leave the wires unattached, reassemble the access part or parts removed and continue to use the oven without using the self-cleaning cycle again.

Have that self-cleaning function fixed by a service professional when some other function fails and a service representative is needed to correct that condition. In this way two inoperative conditions can be corrected with one in home service call.

Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, problem solving methods, disassembly instructions, repair proceedures, pictorials and schematics, may be available online.
