Can anyone give me a rough idea of electrical usage for dehumidiers ? This is a 20 pint capacity for a 1000 sq ft room with high ceilings. It's a studio in the Redwoods with little heat.

The average dehumidifier uses 250 watts.
If it was used 4 hours a day for 1 year (365 x 4) 1460 hours per year.
Let's say the cost per kilowatt in your area is $.11
250 watts x 1460 hrs./yr. x $.11 = 40,150
Since kilo means a thousand, you divide that figure by it. 40,150/1000 = $40.15
That is the annual cost of the dehumidifier for a year based on the above information. It is easy for you to substitue to determine your actual usage.
Let's say the wattage is 300, 6 hrs./day for 180 days(half the year) and cost per kilowat is $.08
300 watts x (6 x 180) x $.08 = 25,920/1000 = $25.92/yr.

Thanks, just the info I wanted to figure cost. It will be worth it. lana
It's a 1000 sq ft damp studio with high ceilings, skylights and Redwoods. I think the unit is good to 2000 sq feet, 22 pints, 750 watts.
