I'd like to make a draw-type shade (two, actually) out of a material similar to muslin using bamboo as the top and bottom pieces along with three (?) bamboo pieces that can slip into slots sewn into the material to divide it into sections. I'm just stuck on how to pull it up (like a draw shade or a roll-up shade). Any suggestions?

I've seen these type of shades in window treatment books. It can be done. I believe it involves sewing sets of loops into the bamboo slots with the loops on each slot aligned vertically. Strings are attached to the bottom piece, run through each vertical loop to an eyebolt on top of the window frame, then run across to the side and down. You pull on all the strings at once to pull the shade open. The shade gathers at each slot.
