How to best utilize arizona flagstone in covering a 400 square foot outdoor deck. The pieces as delivered are appx. 3-4' by 4-5'and 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" thick. Installing on a sand base. Thank you.

Normally the stones would be cut. Test fitting stones of that size for the best random patten is not casual work. If the larger than life look appeals to you, divide the area into quadrants or sections and test fit on paper.
