I guess this may be a simple question to a plumber...... is the self tapping saddle valve that hooks up the copper tubing from the water heater to the humidifier in the open position when the "t" is all the way turned up or all the way down? My thinking it is all the way turned up.?

Good question, I would say up for on, I really don't know, needle valves are not code approved where I live, so I never install them, I remove alot of them due to failure mainly cause they leak and never shut the flow off when needed.

I recommend installing a real shut aff valve like an angle stop.
