I have a combo Phillips/Magnavox 19'' - VCR, that has a tape
stuck in the VCR. When you try to turn on the TV to eject the
tape the television immediately shuts itself off. I'm unable to
take the tape out of the VCR, anyone has any suggestions before
I haul it off to the repair shop. Thanks...

Good morning, woodwfl1:
Those are nice units when they are running. But, alas, they do not have much reliability for sustained use.
There's no quick fix for this problem other than disassemble the unit and get into the VCR section for repair. These units are so closely assembled that it takes a lot of serious effort to just get to the problem. I do not recommend this sort of thing for the Do It Yourself type of person. After repairs, there are alignments to be performed which are also outside the realm of the average user.
So, your thought about a shop repair is justified in this case. Get estimates, though. Prices vary widely these days.
