I have a dual-tape Emerson radio / tape player. Both cassette players no longer work as the small belt on each have broken. The gears turn freely, so I do not think it is an issue with something freezing up or binding.
Question: How do I replace these belts? I cannot figure out how to get behind the pulley (or take it off) to get the belt on.

Unfortunately there is no easy way to do this. The mechanism will most likely have to be disassembled to get the belts on. The bracket holding the capstans in will have to come off, you may have to go thru the front after removing the doors, they usually unscrew from the front then slide up to remove. Anyway it can be done with a little patience and small tools. The belt may not just go on one way too, it could have an idler wheel that should run off the back of the belt... Go buy a new one:)
