Hello,
We have a door that when fully opened begins to close. Let me explain further. The door will be fully opened but slowly begin to move towards the closed position. You move the door to the open positin and it starts again. The only real fix to prevent this has been using a door stop. Being a bathroom door this has not been very practical. I was hoping someone else could offer some other suggestions or advise.
Thanks for your help

The door or the jam is out of plumb. At the bottom of this message click on the little house icon with www next to it and read topic "Doors" it's a screwy fix. It will expain how to plumb the jam and/or door with string, a weight, a ruler and a wedge.

For a quick fix that will solve the problem. Remove the top hinge pin. Lay it flat and hit the center with a hammer to give it a slight bend. Replace the pin and the problem should be solved or move on to the next hinge pin.
Solution 2: Purchase a door stop from HDepot. It is a combination with a 3 inch door stop mounted to the inside bottom of the door and a catch that attaches to the baseboard in the room. Installation is about 5 minutes. Screw the stop on to the door. Put a marking solution on it and open the door fully and attach the catch to the baseboard over the mark.

And Plan C, loosen the bottom hinge, and shim it out with something thin behind the hinge enough to plumb the hinge side of the door.
Use a level against the door frame to instantly check plumb.
Once it's plumb, the door won't move without help.
Good Luck!
