I have a 14" Matsui 14R1 telly. Recently, everything that should be white appears yellow. All the other colours are fine (apart from an obvious yellow tinge!)
Is there an easy solution to this or is it the end of the road for the poor thing?
Cheers

Good Morning, djw111:
I'm going to make the assumption that you are one of our friends in the UK. And, what I have managed to find on the Matsui brand of "telly" says that it doesn't enjoy a very good reputation for reliability. I noted a couple direct recalls on the sets (not your model, though).
What has happened is a change in the color balance on the picture tube and a "yellow" tinge indicates the problem is with the red in the tube (or lack of red). This could indicate that the red electron gun is getting weak. If the green and blue are
predominant, they produce yellow.
Most sets have color balance controls inside the set that allows you to adjust the levels of red, blue, and green to produce a
good black and white image. This may solve your problem and it isn't difficult.
A good procedure to make this adjustment can be found at this
website: http://an.hitchcock.org/repairfaq/REPAIR/F_tvfaq.html
in Chapter 21.6.
However, if you make the adjustment and the problem recurrs,
it is a sign the picture tube is getting tired. Then it might be a good time to take the family "telly shopping" for Christmas.
