Hi,

I have a 27" Zenith TV that is about 8 years old. The picture is beautiful but flickers every few seconds... The graphics for the menu system no longer function correctly as well. I hired a TV repair company that seemed to know the problem immediately. They claimed it was some sort of micro chip that was malfunctioning and was common with the Zenith's. After waiting over four weeks and $150++ for the TV to be fixed, they returned it but it was still doing the exact same thing.

Does anyone know what the problem is with this TV? I have since bought a new set but would like to keep it if I can get it fixed correctly.

Regards,

MA

Good Morning, mapplegate:

Welcome to the unit of dissasified Zenith owners. You have your own website at

Troubleshooting the problem is not a problem. Usually, the problem can be pinned down to a bad solder connection on the Video circuit board. This requires that you poke and prod the board with a non-metallic probe (wood or plastic) to find the bad connection (while the set is on).
When you find the "sensitive spot", you shut down the set, unplug it, and use a low heat soldering iron and a little 60-40 electonic solder to fix the bad connection.
