I have an audio tape jammed in my car tape player. What is the best way to remove it? Whenever I push "eject", it pops part-way out then returns to the play position, and the tape sounds as if it's been eaten by the machine.
Thanks.
Thanks.

This can and has been known to damage the tape deck!!!
As the tape starts to eject grip it with a pair of sturdy hemostats preferably, needle ponit plier; and help the tape the rest of the way out with firm pressure. You may have to slip a butter knife (1/2 in putty knife better under the tape as it comes out to "Jiggle" the tape transport up. Most of these come out better if you can get the knife in far enough to gently help the back of the transport to come up. Now this should work, the right way is to remove it from the dash, take the can off and retract the transport manually. If this does work I still wouldn't use the deck until it is pulled and checked. Again this has and can damage the transport possibly beyond repair. Weight the cost of replacement.

Thanks for your help...it worked, and the tape was not involved in the jam, so the cartridge came out more easily than expected....again, thanks.
