Hi All,
I have a bathroom that has two wooden doors that slide into the wall. There are two seperate door ways not side by side. Both are broken some what. One is worse than the other. One the wheel on top of the door comes off the track and I pick the end up and set it back on the track and it works Ok for a couple of times. The other door won't line up on the track. All of the wheels & tracks seem to be on the top of the doors and my house was built around 1965. Does anyone have any ideas, hints, instructions, maybe how-to's on referbishing these doors? I would have just switched them out with regular doors, but they are narrower than standard doors.
Help,
Rob

If you can get to the outer wheels, remove them, take them to a store and get replacements. They may be broken or worn.
To get to the back wheels, you would probablyhave to dismantle the walls.
Good Luck!

Rob,
The doors are called pocket doors and their are parts available to refurbish them. I have not worked with them yet however I have seen many threads devoted to them so a search would turn something up. Removal involves removing the trim around the door entrance and lifting the door from the track. These forums have had tech difficulties for a week and are back online as of today so you may get some more replies as the regulars return.. Also doors in sizes less than standard are available as special order from Home Centers and Independant lumber yards.

Thanks for all of the help! We bought a house in September and have replaced or painted everything except for the fireplace and these two doors. I figured it would require removing the molding and wanted to do that before we painted the bathroom. Since we put in an additional half bath and don't have any children yet. It isn't that pressing. I do want to try and get them together. I will try a search. I tried the other day but didn't realize the board was having problems. Maybe we can refurbish them because the doors themselves are still in nice shape!
Thanks,
Rob :D
