Hi Everybody!! I really appreciate this site! I also have a q: we have a yamaha CD player (5 disk, platter type, model CDC 835, purchased about 5 years ago). Since playing a CD copied on PC burner, our yamaha plays part of a song (commercial disk), then repeats parts of that song. No matter the disk, it is now doing this. Wondering if you've any thoughts about this...i am electronically challenged, but willing to attempt a fix. I live in a small town in canada, and the local technician said, "Hmmm, could take me awhile". Thanks very much.

From what I understand...
work before
played cd copied from a cd burner
now have skip /repeat problems right after
possible problem ?
dirty lens .
you can either have a cleaning cd that you can buy which is the easiliest way without opening the unit, but costs a fews dollars for the cleaning disk. Or open the unit and clean it. I think a special cleaning cd might be easilier for the layman.
skipping can be caused by sratches on the cd, or dirty lens. I doubt that your copied cd caused any problems except perhaps transfering dirt.
There are other things electronicly and mechanelly that can cause a cd not to place properly, but just from the sequence of events that you mentioned , I would first suspect I dirty lens inside, and then proceed from there.
I also live in Canada, grew up in the country but now live in teh city.
