I have a 45" Mitsubishi TV. I have black horizontal lines about 1/2 inch thick and spaced about 1 inch apart running up the screen. I also can hear a high pitched hum coming from the rear. When the hum gets louder, the lines increase in intensity. Any suggestions?
Thank-you

Good Morning, SalR:
Sounds like you have a low voltage power supply failure in the form of a bad filter capacitor. The set has to convert the alternating current (AC) from your wall outlet to a pure DC (direct current) for the internal circuits to operate.
The unit has several large value capacitors in the low voltage supply that filter out the AC. When one fails, the AC in induced
in the the sensitive DC circuits. Black bars are the AC and the
sound from the speakers is a 60 Hz hum from the AC.
Time to call out the techs. Get estimates. This is not an expensive fix.
Here's a good repair FAQ that talks about these things in great detail:

Hi Smokey
Thank-you for your reply. I checked out the site that you suggested and that appears to be the problem. I guess I'll be calling a repair shop this morning.
