I have a Zenith 60" Projection Color TV that I bought in 1995 or 96. Does it have a reset button anywhere? There is no picture or sound; just a faint sound of a 'click' when I try to turn the power on. Any suggestions?

Good evening, italianamia:

No, there isn't any external reset buttons to press. Different technology from the old TV set we once knew.

Since there is a "click" involved, I would assume an "out of tolerance" condition exists in the unit. Most likely a failure in the High Voltage circuit. If the High Voltage circuit doesn't come up to a predetermined level, the set will shut itself down to prevent damage to the projection tubes.

No sense turning it on anymore. Time to call the technician.

So, would it be better to buy a new one? or fix this one?

Good Morning, italianamia:

The decision to repair or replace is in your arena, I'm afraid. The unit is at (what we call) half life at this point and should have another four or five years running left in it.

The rule of thumb is to have a technician look at it, give you an estimate for repairs, and then determine if it is more cost effective to repair the unit or replace it. If the picture was good when failed, then it should only need a component replacement.
