I have a RCA 48" projection TV that will not turn on after a power surge. I had it plugged into a surge protector and the VCR and DVD player were not effected. Anyone have any ideas what could have happened? I cannot find a reset button of any kind on the unit. Could there be a power sending unit that got fried? Is there anything that I can try before calling a repair man? I have unplugged it and plugged it back in but still won't come on.

Good Morning, ckbledsoe:
Projection TV is quite different than the old boxes we once knew so the problems are a little more difficult to determine.
I assume you have checked the electrical outlet and it is working okay. Second thing is to bypass the surge protector and plug the set directly into the wall outlet. I have seen a lot of surge protectors fail.
If none of this works, then the cover is going to have to come off the projection unit. The projection unit is internally fused (usually) and the fuses are inside the unit. It may be nothing more than a bad fuse.
If the set was on when the surge hit, there could be some real trouble. If the high voltage spiked, it is possible that the HV Regulator has died.
So, the answer is that the covers are going to have to come off and the internal circuitry will have to be checked to determine the extent of the problem.
