I have blue metal venetian blinds and I want to recolour them a neutral shade when I repaint my walls. Does anyone have any suggestions on method, etc. or..... can this even be done? Thank you.

If they are like any of the blinds that I have ever worked on, they sould be going thru a tape type of system. On the botton of the blinde should be a cover plate. Under that coverplat, you will probably find a knot where the pull strings have been threaded through the blind slats. Undo the knot and go to the top slat and pull the cord out. This should allow you to remove the slats from the tapes. After you get them out, I would suggest you find a spray paint color that is to your liking and put some thin coats on the top side and then on the bottom. Find someplace you can lay them out like a piece of plywood on 2 sawhorses and just spray them. After they are dry, replace the slats in the tapes and then rethread the pull cords thru them, reknot the cord at the bottoma and replace the cover plate.

Randi22 , I'd save all your efforts for the big jobs ! When you add up all the time this will take ,it's probably cheaper to buy new blinds . Look around ,they aren't that expensive . You might try

Thanks for the idea Garywms. I'm going to check to see if your suggestion is possible with my style of blinds.
Sew, I've looked into simply replacing the blinds, but it will cost me about $1500.00 to replace 6 of them because they are all a custom size, so.....needless to say I'd rather try to recolour them, even though it will probably be VERY labour intensive. Thanks for the link anyway.

We wanted to change the color of some of our mini blinds and decided to try the spray paint idea. It worked out well for us. We simply hung the blinds up on a small rope between two trees outside and sprayed them with 2-3 coats of paint. It worked well for us. The strings were colored as well as the blinds. We washed them off first with a garden hose, allowed them to dry and went at it.

I can confirm that spraying the strings will work very well. They dry a dull version of the paint color and seem to work very well when dry.....Mike

I must say that spraying sounds like the easiest suggestion yet. Thank you. Will let you know how we do.
