This is what I would like to do, I have a paneled wall that I would like to paint bricks on and then paint it to look like a very old stucco wall that is chipping allowing the brick to show through. I have never done anything like this and don't want to make a mess. Has anyone done this and may have some tips for me

Hi, i'm not sure if this will work but as i thought about it it sounded like a good idea. I myself am giving my bathroom a midieval look. No, i'm not weird i just like the time frame and have seen nice things done with it. If i were you i'd paint whatever color base you want to use. From there get a large fat sponge, the size you want your bricks to be. Choose a color for the bricks and lightly dip the sponge so that the outside edges are covered and theres paint on the main part of the sponge. You'll want to scrape the paint a bit from the center so it will give you a rough brick affect when you touch it to your wall. After you get the amount of bricks you want on your wall let them stand and dry. Then take your color you want to use to make it look like the walls falling off from the brick and paint unevenly and leave miandering gaps so the bricks you did will show through. That sounds like a really neat idea you have. Hope it works out for you. I myself will be doing mine in the next 3 weeks or so. Let me know how yours works out.

Good Luck,

Tina

I forgot the most important thing. The stucco. Use a mud or similar type stuff to splatter or spread unevenly on the wall first to give it a rough texture. Then paint, do the bricks and paint the uneven part where the walls falling part.

Kind of the castle look.Good luck withyour remodel I have alot of other stuff to do before I do the wall. I am going for the rustic old lodge type look in my living room.
