It has been suggested that I "suede" paint the walls of my den. I'm looking to paint the walls a tobacco color. It is a small room with three windows, two doors and a cloest. The walls are horse hair plaster that are currently painted eggshell white.

How do you "suede" paint?

Lowes and Home Depot have displays that show all these faux paint techniques. You friends could either be talking about suede paint from Ralph Lauren or a faux painting technique. I've never worked with the RL paints but have discussed it with painters that have. They all charge extra for it because its a PITA - very time consuming.

The faux paint is easier using tools available.

Hi!

I have never personally "suede painted" anything, but I recently saw an episode of Oprah where a woman suede painted her living room using a faux technique -- the technique involved mixing fine-grained sand with regular latex wall paint (approx 1 cup of sand to 1 gallon of paint), and the result was beautiful! I am looking forward to trying the technique in my house soon. I believe that the woman on Oprah had a book out entitled "The Painted House" that gives details on how to do this and many other faux techniques. I hope this helps.

Good Luck!
