I've recently become interested in the many simple projects that can be done with PVC. I've been looking for on-line plans or any ideas on building an entertainment center for my basement using PVC as the framework. I know it can be relatively easy to do but I was wondering if anyone could direct me to some options for different avenues to approach this.

My only suggestion is if you drill holes in the pipes you can run your wires through them.

Thanks Bazooka227, I actually hadn't even considered that. Think of anything else, drop me a line.

Schedule 40 PVC should be fine for framing. You can use the white plumbing PVC or the gray electrical conduit PVC. I understand that PVC tubing also comes in other colors (green, blue, orange, etc.) for special uses, but I imagine that it is hard to find.
Although you're supposed to use PVC primer before gluing the fittings, since it won't be under any internal pressure, I think that I would skip the purple primer. Just sand the interior of the fittings and exterior of the pipe to roughen it before gluing.
Wipe the excess glue off quickly, so that it won't mess up the appearance.
You can use mineral spirits and steel wool to clean all of the printing off of the pipe before using it.
After your project is made up, I would shine it up with Armor-All or 2000.
Sketch out your own plans before beginning each project, and you can easily figure out which fittings would work best before buying them.
Good Luck!

Mike, thanks for the help. Have you seen any links to any other PVC type projects? If not, thanks again for the reply.

Sorry. I don't know of any particular sites, but there probably are some.
Have you surfed around to try to find one?
