My daughter was given a Sharp bookshelf stereo.There is power to it. all works except there is no sound. We've tried hooking up other speakers and there is no sound on headphones either.Any help would be appreciated. thanks

As in my post to flopsitter you may have the same problem. The little amps in these units are not designed for the type of music that is played on them. These kids play the heavy bass stuff and blow the amps (could be solder too but in your case I doubt it.) Companies rate these unit at 400 watts! My goodness, 400 watts out of this little thing? Well yes and no, that's 400 watts PEP or Peak to Peak. Not RMS, or constant. 400 watts of continuous power would draw a tremendous amount of current not to mention heat. So these little units hit these heavy bass notes at high volume and pop the AF (audio frequency) amp. If you have a good digital ohm meter and some knowledge of electronics I can probably lead you through the testing procedure, getting the bloody thing apart is the biggest battle! And away we go...
