To whom it may concern,
Thank you for taking my question. I would like to know how to make picture frames out of scrap wood that I have accumalated over the years. What I mean by this is that I would like to cut compound miters, for the frames. do you have a simple layout method, and how to cut left and right side angles ?
Thanks alot

Charlie

You need a table saw or router to cut the rabbets and a power miter saw (set at 45 degrees right or left) with a fine-tooth blade to cut perfect-fit picture frame corners.
Hand saws with miter boxes have too much play in them to make good picture frame cuts, unless you are very experienced at it.
There are adjustable picture frame corner clamps that hold them in place for the glue to set up, or you can simply screw or nail the corners with brads (pre-drill the holes to keep from splitting the wood), and clamp them with regular clamps.
Good Luck!
