I recently bought an old child's rocker, it's mahogany. It was in pieces, I rebuilt it and refinished it with tung oil. The seat was orginally cained, it has the 3/8 inch deep groves and the wooden stays that held the caining fabric in place.I cleaned the debris out of the groves and tung oiled the groves as well as the stays. The problem is I,ve never done anything with caining so I,m at a loss. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dear George,

Thanks for the information. Just so happens I have a Van Dyke's catalog. I Didn't see that section. Thanks again.

Hello There Peggy I noticed on your post that you applied oil to the grove. Before installing the cane and spline you might want to lightly buff the grove with sand paper to make sure the spline, cane and glue stay put.
If you have any question you may contact me for any help.
I have free instructions on my site that also might be a help. http://www.richmond-restore.com
