I have a mahog. dining room table with 2 pedestals that have ball and claw feet. When my dog was a puppy, he chewed on the ball and claw feet. 4 of the feet are chewed and I don't have any idea how to fix them. My uneducated idea is to sand the feet smooth and then stain them? Can someone give me some advice? I have no woodworking experience!

This type of damage can be repaired, but it's not for the amateur. I would suggest taking the piece to a competenmt refinisher for an estimate on repairs only...restoring teh shape of teh feet, staining to match, and refinishing the pedestal.
