I just bought a new chest of drawers, made of pine wood, and it is patinized...I would like to stain it or paint it somehow a darker shade, hopefully a nice mahogany
could I stain this furniture? what does "patinized" mean?
thanks for your help

"Patinized is a term usually reserved for metal work and sculpture. It refers to chemically altering teh appearance of a piece to give it an aged patina. How that would apply to a piece of wood furniture, specifically, I don't know.

I feel certain the piece could be stained (after being stripped) - just don't expect it to look like anything other than pine - albeit a different color.

For further clarification on just what 'patinized' means for your piece of furniture, contact the manufacturer...and please let me know. I suspect it's a bit of advertising fluffery.
