When installing green board around new tub should you put cut edge or factory edge to tub, should caulk be applied between board and tub edge?

You did not indicate what type of shower wall you were installing. If tile, I would highly recommend a concrete underlayment. Greenboard is not waterproof, just water resistant as it is treated drywall and is installed as you would regular drywall. It is usually recommended that drywall be hung perpendicular to the joists. Fiberglass tape and waterproof joint compound are usually preferred. You can find helpful info at http://www.doityourself.com/wall/drywall.htm. If clicking this site does not take you to the info, do a keyword search for drywall.
