I am using an old piece of furniture as a bathroom vanity. The sink is tiny and will only take up a fourth of the vanity top. I want something different but waterproof to top the vanity. Any suggestions?

I was recently in the home of an antique dealer who had an old chest for a vanity. She had several layers of polyurethane on the wood surface and a drop in bowl. It was lovely. Another option would be to remove the existing wood top and replace with a plastic laminate, cultured marble, or solid surface top.
