Insulation, Radiant and Vapor Barriers - Adding insulation to old house

Can insulation be added to the walls of a 100+ year old house without removing the exterior/interior siding off? There is not any insulation in the walls presently.

A reputable contractor should be able to blow cellulose insulation into the walls... they do need to drill 3/4" holes though in each stud space near the top and bottom..
they can plug these holes with wood plugs.... but that is the only way I know you can add insulation to an existing wall.

There is another way providing that you do not have too much air infiltration

Check with your Sherwin Wms paint dealer for radiance brand paint. This paint is 40% efficient in reflecting heat energy back into the house in winter and only radiates 40% into the house duing summer. It is actually more efficient than bulk insulation.

You paint the inside of the exterior walls therby insulating them. The paint is available only in flat and a light color must be used. They will tint to suit.

You might also consider installing a radiant barrier in the attic as this will also help in reducing a/c costs by a considerable amount.
